Rainforest Music Festival 2010

Rainforest Music Festival is an annual event held at Sarawak Cultural Village. It lasts for 3 days. This year, I went for the second day only. :) Last year, I went for the first day.

The tickets are expensive this year... RM110 per ticket. On normal days, it costs RM60 to gain entry to the Cultural Village.

I've got 3 tickets

I bought 2 tickets with a 50% discount, and got the 3rd one by winning a contest organised by the local Newspaper - The Borneo Post. :)

List of winners of the contest

See my name? :D

I went there in the morning because they have workshop before the main event (at night).

It was a beautiful day that day

It rained on the first and third day. I was lucky the second day was a good day.

Looking through the programme and the map
Since it was held at the cultural village, we went to visit the different cultural 'houses', and tried a few stuff

Traditional Grinder from the Chinese House

Yeah, World Craft Bazaar

Tried pottery making

You are allowed to take your creation back when it's dry. I went back to check on it around evening time and it was not dry enough, and the person in charged said I could come back later and take it.

The sad part was, someone took my creation! :( I really wished I took it before anyone could lay their hands on MY CREATION! UGH~!

With my mom - Orang Ulu's house

Traditional musical instrument made from wood
(Like a modern xylophone)

Sape - Like a guitar but not the same way of playing it

Watching the master while he teaches me

The place where the night event will be - See how MUDDY it is?

Balancing on a bamboo bridge
No, I did not fall!

Henna - RM10

The workshops started at 2pm to 5.15pm. There were 3 workshops going on simultaneously at 3 different places, The theater, the hall, and the Longhouse. There were 9 workshops altogether in a day with each lasting for 45 minutes and a 30 minutes break before the next workshop.

The Theater - only place with air conditioning

The accordionists performing during the workshop

Another group performing during the workshop at the hall

The prices of the food are more expensive than usual but it's okay and almost the same as last year's.

Since it was an open air consert, we searched for a place to sit. The concert started at 7pm.

My two companions.

Yeah, we were sitting on gravels! The muddy part right in front of the stage is for those who wish to dance, and yes, I was lucky to see some great hip-hop dance on that day :D - but I did not manage to snap a picture of the guy dancing. :(

And people just keep coming.

See the RED arrow above? That's how tiny I look in the big crowd.

And it started!!

More and more people coming

Find me

One of the best performance of the night - from Reunion Islands

Just in case you are thinking how muddy it will be if you want to dance....
