The Junk - Kuching

I had my first candle light dinner in Kuching. The name of the place is THE JUNK. Yes, a weird name but.....

My Date

I love it that they use the mortar to hold the cup for the candle.

He has no idea it's hot! It's his first time

The environment was really good. Most of their customers are foreigners.

It's dark inside. You'd probably have to feel around. :D

Different facial expressions
Okay... and now the food.... :D

Lemongrass Chicken - RM30

That was really good. It was well marinated, and juicy. RM30 might be expensive for most of us but that chicken was really worth it. It was stuffed with minced meat (I think it's PORK) seasoned with lemongrass and onions. The tastes blended in just fine.

Lamb Shank - RM28

That was a HUGE portion. Enough for 2 person. But of course, if you're a great eater then it'll be a right portion for you. But for me, it was wayyyyyy toooooooo LARGE a portion. The lamb was soft. Tasted really nice and the potatoes goes well with the gravy. The salad given was good. They gave a lot of veg too.

Best thing is, there is NO TAX at all! And, they gave a bottle of plain water for free. Unlike in KL, sometimes you get charged for the water and you're charged with service tax.

I'll say I love love love this place and the environment is far better than at Dave's.

The Junk doesn't serve JUNKS.. :D They serve food that are better than those in KL!

My favourite dining place in Kuching - and my favourite dish - the lamb shank...but they do not serve it on a bed of mashed potatoes anymore. You would have seen my post on it:
